crazy, no?

a couple years ago i noticed some weird goings on. of course, i’m always noticing weird goings on, but i like to look upwards and check out what the aircraft is doing from time to time. i have a lot of chances to witness their activity. by the way, i’m in a quiet zone and some high altitude commercial flight paths with an occasional military “game”……

the constant goings on include chemtrail spraying. sometimes they let up and allow us a sunny day or two. the best are seeing the unique patterns of the chemtrails (swastikas!?!?! upside-down peace signs!?!?!). and yes these trails are rather different from the normal contrails. i’ve even seen two planes near each other, one with a short, quickly dissapating contrail and the other with a long long long chemtrail that stays in the sky and slowly spreads out (typically to meet other slowly spreading out chemtrails, thus blanketing the sky and blocking sunlight). the other thing i’ve witnessed the chemtrail-spewing planes do is finish their dump, there’s a break, than the contrail starts up with it’s normal short distance behind the plane that quickly dissapates. interesting, no?

but back to this one summer (2005). i just happen to be outside during the afternoon. it’s bright. clear skies (for once). i’m walking up the drive and look up. for no reason really, except maybe habit. i’m surprised to notice two shiny silver planes near each other. i was surprised because i didn’t hear them. you can always hear the planes around here, even through the walls, even when they are at their highest altitude. and oddly, these two planes were much lower than most of the planes i hear & see. then another anomaly catches my attention: there are no chemtrails and no contrails. nothing. i watch them for a bit, never hearing anything, nor seeing any trails. i look away for a second and they disappear on me. which is kind of weird as they had a ways to go before being blocked by trees. there were no visible markings that i could see. i have this odd feeling that what i was seeing wasn’t really what i was seeing.

ok. another day. again (and oddly) a decently sunny afternoon. i’m inside. washing dishes if i remember rightly. i hear this high-pitch whine. it’s really bizarre, so of course i want to investigate. the back door is about 15 feet from where i was standing, so i leap across the floor, swing open the door, and look up. flying so low i could have seen faces in the darkened windows had there been any to see, is a white plane. no markings, flying very slowly. it’s front tip is just passing over the roofline. right next to the door (which is open) i have a table with my camera on it. i look away to grab the camera and look back. couldn’t have been more than a few seconds. but when i look back, the plane is gone. i thought for sure i could have caught an image of the tail end before it passed the roof. oh well, i quickly dash to the front door. about 10 quick leaps across the floor (yes i live in a small place) and i dash out the front door expecting to see the plane passing over the front yard, or at least down the road. it had quite a ways to go before it should be out of view at the speed it was going. but it was no where. this incredibly low plane was no where to be seen. oddly i still heard the high-pitch whining. i just could never see anything. so how does a plane vanish from sight within seconds, but still can be heard? and for that matter, since when did a plane ever make a high-pitch whine like what i heard? i’ve never heard a plane make that sound before and i’ve never heard it again. so what the hell was that?

military jets have flown so low before i thought i could hit them with a rock. they are very very noisy (thunderous roars you hear a while before they come and after they leave) and they fly extremely fast over you. the plane i saw was crawling at a snail’s pace in comparison.

and then there was that night in january of 2004 when that odd light flashed on me while i was walking towards my home, flashed at my home (witnessed by those inside through a window), and then just disappeared. and when it was on me i had such a hard time moving, concentrating, speaking, thinking….and had this odd idea that a dark brown boxy car with dark-tinted windows was pulling up the driveway, until i realized that the light was coming from behind me and not from the driveway, and that there was no car coming up the driveway. there was a full moon that night as well–you could draw a triangle between it, the light, and the driveway points, yet that moon illumined no dark shape behind the light, even though it was just above the treeline and i could see the dark shape of the trees. like maybe a helicopter to which a search light might have been attached. and everything so eerily silent. but when i turned to look at the source of the light is when it flashed to the house and disappeared. very odd. slowly i regained proper functioning of my motor skills with the dawning realization that something completely unordinary and just a bit frightening had occurred. i wish i could write this off to some sort of imbibed substance, but i was unfortunately sober at the time and had been for a long while before and a long while after. not much of an unsober person i suppose.

so….strange aircraft.

i’m copying the article below in full. the more it’s in view the better. of course poison raining from the skies is not so new a thing–they’ve been doing it “discretely” for years (discrete only because most people don’t bother to look up anymore). have you ever seen supposed “contrails” make swastika shapes, upside-down peace signs, and other bizarreness? or, maybe you see this “contrail” ever-lengthening behind the plane (and not disappearing), then suddenly there’s a break. after which, the lengthy “contrail” remaining begins to spread out to meet other “contrails” and within minutes what was a gorgeous cloud-free day, suddenly turns overcast and remains that way. BUT remember that break? well, what happens after that break is a REAL contrail, that follows behind the plane for a distance and disappears, so that it is always the same short length behind the plane. that means, the contrail does not REMAIN in the sky and SPREAD OUT to create weird HAZE. so don’t tell me those planes aren’t dumping something…cause i’ve seen them do it.

back to the point, however. this particular case in crazy california is just another step towards utter destruction. what the hell are people thinking? rather, WHY AREN’T PEOPLE THINKING?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

and society today is supposed to be better somehow? haha. i’m quite amused.

I am angry! On January 24th, 2008, United States Department of (USDA) Agriculture Secretary Chuck Conner announced the availability of $74.5 million in emergency funding to combat the light brown apple moth (LBAM) infestation in California (1). This announcement comes in conjunction with the release of the California Department of Agriculture’s (CDFA) expanded aerial spray zone, which includes the entire cities of San Francisco, Oakland, Berkley and many others.

Following is a link to a recently published proposal of spray boundaries, the yellow lines indicating the proposed spray zones (www.hopefortruth.com/lbam_2008.jpg) . More than two million people who live in these and other targeted cities are scheduled to be exposed this spring or summer to chemicals that that have never been tested on humans or animals before.

When I learned that Santa Cruz, my previous hometown was to be aerially sprayed, I was in a state of shock. This was followed by a long period of disbelief. Larry Hawkins, a spokesman for USDA, which is working with CDFA on the moth eradication, said the East Bay Area will be included in future treatments. So we have a federal agency, the USDA, telling millions of people that they will be sprayed. This announcement comes without any democratic process.

Apparently the CDFA or the USDA, or both, decided that the previous chemical formula’s used, Checkmate LBAM-F and Checkmate OLR-F were not good enough, which really points to the fact that the past two aerial sprays in Monterey, and the one in Santa Cruz County, were a waste of time and money, in addition to the severe health reactions experienced by thousands of people from chemical exposure.

These chemicals have not undergone thorough safety evaluations, and do not just simply evaporate, but are designed to hang in the air 30-90 days or more. Such chemical applications are of most concern to pregnant women, in which even a minute dosage of a disrupting chemical can cause grave harm to the fetus. This is over and above the real concern for people who are trying to live a chemical-free lifestyle and who won’t be able to escape the hundreds of square miles of densely populated areas to be sprayed, or for those who are sensitive to chemicals, or who are in poor health.

The chemicals sprayed are a plastic encapsulated microtechnology; the microscopic plastic dust, once sprayed, deeply enters the mouth, eyes, skin and lungs. Even after 90 days and several rains, some people in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties are still experiencing symptoms of spray poisoning. When they leave the counties, their symptoms many times abate. This aerial program is a real sword through the heart of democracy and decency. The government has really gone too far and it must be stopped now.

I must inform you that through a freedom of information request, a local newspaper has learned that the CDFA has hired media spin doctor extraordinaire Porter Novelli at the tune of almost $500,000 tax payer dollars to convince the public that it is okay for the state to dump chemicals all over them, their gardens, their pets, and their neighbors. The state of California is in a budget crisis, and this is one example that explains why. Here the state is using tax payer dollars to lie to and mislead the public, to try to convince the public that the state should be spending millions of dollars of resources on polluting the air, sea, and land with chemicals that the public in general does not want. Since a majority of spray funding is coming from the federal arm, know your tax paying dollars are going to a government sponsored large scale crime.

If you are not familiar with this heinous program, let me bring you up to date. In the beginning of last year, a taxonomist identified the presence of a non native moth species (LBAM) in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The moth may have been present in California for a long time, nobody knows for sure as detailed studies were never attempted. The entrance of the moth was likely due to lax boundaries from plant goods imported from New Zealand or Australia; in other words, it is the USDA’s fault and responsibility for having allowed the moth in. In Hawaii, the moth has existed for the past hundred years without doing any harm to the local ecosystem, and without the need for the government to try to stop the moth. In fact it is considered harmless or benign to the environment, the moth does not transmit diseases or harm humans or animals in any way.

Originally, the USDA announced that the moth might cause $100 million in crop damage if allowed to multiply. This estimate of 100 million was based on a single worst year of estimated LBAM damage from over a decade ago in Australia. Australian crop damage figures have little meaning in California, as the climate is different and the moth damage in Australia varies from year to year; it is relatively minor in any case. Even if this $100 million crop loss did come true, one has to consider that $90 million has now been ear marked to contain the moth, primarily the funds are for aerial spraying chemicals on cities which contain people, and not crops like apples, oranges and grapes.

It is unanimous from pest control experts (except the ones employed by the government) that the apple moth cannot be eradicated, but can only be controlled. Thus this makes the entire aerial experiment an expression of a collective evil. Many of the targeted cities are not reasonably close to any type of apple, orange or grape vineyards. To this day, there has been zero dollars of reported crop damage as a direct result from the LBAM presence in California. Clearly something fishy is going. Federal and state governments are adamant with their efforts to douse everybody with chemicals for a relatively minute amount of moths.

Additional funds have gone to the CDFA’s public relations campaign, which among other things, involves travel money and putting up the CDFA’s senior officials, like the outlaw leader Secretary A.G. Kawamura in nice hotels, and paying for their meals at restaurants and their travel expenses as they go around the state and lie to people about the need for and safety of this moth spray program. No money has been earmarked to pay for medical costs or even research to determine if people are getting sick. This is because the CDFA simply assumes that this product is safe. They base their safety assumption on a bogus “consensus document” that was created by the Department of Pesticide Review only after several aerial sprays. The document contains little evidence, and a lot of opinions. What is of grave concern is the decision to spray never-before tested pesticides on people, and in cities, funded and supported by the USDA and EPA, which CDFA is carrying out.

Let me repeat this because just this fact is so shocking it is hard to comprehend. People in California are being subjected to biochemical, microscopic moth warfare. The reported microcapsule size of the aerial mating disrupter is as small as 10 microns and averages 25-35 microns in size for an undeployed moth spray. This size is coming dangerously close to micro-sized particles that are used to evade the body’s defensive systems for biological weapons, those are reported to be 3-4 microns in size. Even with horrible tracking methodologies, and blatant lies to the public to fool people about the danger of the aerial spray, 643 illnesses were documented (www.1hope.org/SPRAYCOMPLES.PDF) from Monterey and Santa Cruz counties in the 2007 aerial spray campaigns. It makes sense that people would get sick because these minute particles can easily get absorbed deep within the body. So the effect of a small amount of chemical can be magnified many times. But you know, that assertion is hypothetical, because nobody has ever done any legitimate testing to see whether the chemicals in the microcapsules could affect human health.

These 643 reports represent a fraction of the real injuries, the actual spray has caused thousands to be poisoned from this biochemical formulation. Despite these reports which include 330 official illness claims filed with the CDFA, the CDFA states the following lies on their website, “Pheromones are extremely safe,” and “Public safety is the primary concern.” The statement that pheromones are safe is a lie. Sure, pheromones can be safe when used responsibly, for example a benign moth trap in an apple orchard that contains pheromones to attract the moths. But when you create a microscopic biodegradable ball of volatile chemicals, and then place within it a synthetic moth pheromone, which itself is described as an explosive chemical, you have more of a drug which can interact and create changes within the human body, than a pesticide. Furthermore, no thorough investigation has been done of these 330 official illness complaints, and some of these people have not yet recovered.

One must realize that any documentation regarding the safety of pheromones reported is from non-aerial applications, such as a moth sticky trap that is scented with pheromones and stuck on a tree, or a pheromone laced twist tie applied to apple orchards or vineyards. The last aerial application was reported to contain 10-20% of the “safe” pheromone, and 80-90% “other ingredients”. These safety assertions also do not relate to the method of application. A sticky trap laced with pheromone is a different entity than a microscopic ball that is designed to biodegrade with pheromone encapsulated within it. Several of the Checkmate ingredients have yet to be disclosed to the public under trade secret laws.

The newly tested chemicals, which are scheduled for either the spring or summer time to be sprayed on millions, similarly will not be disclosed to the public. We do not even know what this stuff is? How can the government say the chemicals are safe, and then hide the ingredients from scrutiny? If these chemicals are so safe why not tell us honestly what it is? Clearly the intention of the CDFA, USDA, and EPA, is to cover up the real nature of this biochemical assault. They are trying to hide what they do from the public’s eye. They do not want you to know the truth. The truth is people get sick. Not everybody gets sick from the moth spray, but many people do. Its effects can be strong and violent.

The deepest concern is regarding the distribution method of the pheromone. The pheromone is encapsulated in a miniature and highly volatile plastic ball. According to a recent UC Davis study paid for by the CDFA, the microcapsules from an unsprayed batch of Checkmate LBAM-F ranged in size from 10 to 190 microns. Over time, these particles can average 25-35 microns in size, shrink and degrade into more dangerous sizes, which fall under the category of particle pollution. Miniature particles between 2.5-10 microns in size, especially from pesticides, are known to cause both short term and long term health effects, including decreased overall life span. Again, nobody as yet knows how small the degraded microcapsules are, or how this will effect people in the short and long term, because no such testing exists. In essence, people have been subjected to a biological and chemical experiment. This is insane!

The CDFA reports that they want their newest moth weapon deployed this spring and summer, to be even longer lasting, which to me means that the microcapsules will be even more dangerous, possibly indefinitely sticking in the environment, and irritating people’s sensitive ducts and glands; like the eye’s and the nose, much like allergies from pollen. In each aerial application, billions of these volatile balls are launched into the environment, sprayed by planes contracted through Dynamic Aviation (http://www.dynamicaviation.com/) , which has other specialties beyond aerial application of pesticides. They also do “Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.” The spraying is conducted at a height of between 500-800 feet and residents in the sprayed area report feeling like they are in a war zone. Once in contact with residential neighborhoods, parks, and playgrounds, the balls slowly disintegrate over time releasing pheromones designed to confuse the moth’s mating patterns.

Typically a drug takes many years for the Food and Drug Administration to approve for safety for humans. Under an emergency declaration, the EPA can exclude new chemicals from rigorous testing. These laws were designed for agricultural emergencies and are being violently misused because they are planning on spraying large urban populations and not apple orchards. The EPA and USDA have flagrantly crossed legal and ethical boundaries by applying laws designed for agricultural fields to densely inhabited city centers.

Further, consider that the testing of these chemicals is not done to make sure that it is safe for humans, as the safety is merely an untested assumption. As an example, it took several months after the first aerial spray of Monterey County for the CDFA to pay the University of California Davis to see if the Checkmate formula was toxic to certain very small ocean insects. It took several months for this first test of the Checkmate formula, already sprayed on well over two hundred thousand people, to be conducted. The testing being conducted in New Zealand is not to ensure safety for humans, but to see if the mating habits of the moths are disrupted. This spraying is approved by the EPA despite the fact that there are specific laws to prohibit chemical testing on pregnant women and children (http://www.epa.gov/oppfead1/guidance/human-test.htm) . “EPA’s rules make it clear that all pregnant women, all nursing women, and all children are excluded from all studies involving intentional exposure that are intended for submission under the pesticide laws.” If the EPA cannot test pesticides on pregnant women, nursing women, and children, then under what jurisdiction and authority can they simply expose pregnant women, nursing women and children with untested pesticides?

How many more children do we need to see poisoned by these indefensible government actions until we wake up and say, ENOUGH! How many more of our friends, relatives and neighbors do we need to see develop chronic health conditions due to exposure to aerially sprayed chemicals until we take effective action to stop this insanity? How much longer are we going to allow the government that is created for the people, to represent the people, to break its own laws and poison its own people and then disregard any reported health concerns?

To see this insanity clearly let’s examine the moth population. In San Francisco County, 3,501 moths total have been trapped and killed. The entire city of San Francisco, whose population is 744,041, is in the proposed spray boundaries. About 744,000 people are to be exposed to unsafe microencapsulated pheromones, for several years, to try to control the mating habits in a city which had a total of 3,501 moths found over the past 8 months. This is really a needle in the haystack approach to pest control. Keep in mind, each moth found, is a moth that has been trapped and exterminated (http://www.aphis.usda.gov/plant_health/plant_pest_info/lba_moth/index.shtml) the moth population in Alameda County is thus sparse at best. Just look out your window. Imagine how many insects are in the tree, the yard, or the local park. I have seen more than 431 ants crawl into my kitchen on a rainy day. So in a giant area of 141 square miles, and the tens or hundreds of millions of insects in that zone, to try to eradicate such a minuscule pest by just spraying chemicals everywhere is ridiculous and unsafe.

The proposed spray map for Alameda County includes densely populated cities of the east bay area: cities such as Richmond, Albany, Berkley, Emeryville, Piedmont, and Oakland. In this area, well over one million people reside. The plan is to expose more than one million people in these cities, over a multi-year period to chemicals meant to hang in the air, in order to try to stop the mating habits of any remaining moths, which if there are any at all, could not be more than a few hundred. The 431 moths that were found there in the past eight months are now dead. These 431 months are the government’s excuse, for a multi-million dollar civil rights incursion.

Here’s how I suggest you take action:

* Share this information with your friends and neighbors.

* Don’t be fooled when the CDFA says that the “pheromone” is safe. I have been poisoned myself by these microcapsules, and so has my family, it is a terrible feeling. Ask for test results to show it is safe for humans, you’ll see they have none.

* Demand accountability. Ask your local California representative why they are continuing to allow the state to spray chemicals on people, even though the state has laws, like the state constitution right to personal safety, and legislative laws such as the California Environmental Quality Act, meant to stop this. Your state representative can amend or modify the LBAM law that went into affect that gave the CDFA the unanimous green light to eradicate the apple moth. Surely your representative does not support aerial spraying? Each county has to have their local agricultural commissioner or someone to that effect sign a permit to allow the state to spray. Stop these people from signing the permit!

*State and Federal representatives can also design an independent committee to come up with non-biased recommendations. The CDFA created such a working group, but they strangely seem to believe that aerial spraying people to stop moths from mating is a good idea.

*Gather your local city council members’ support. Use local resources to conduct research, and file lawsuits against the state.

* Ideally the city attorneys and mayors should file legal suits against CDFA and the EPA and the USDA for polluting the air and water, for violating state and federal laws, and for poisoning children.

* Contact your US Senate and House Representatives, and ask them to stop funding for the aerial spray program, and to declassify this tiny moth from class A pest. Ask them to strengthen protections so that populations cannot be aerially sprayed unless there is grave and immediate danger to public health.

* Additional Note: If the aerial spray does occur, take samples. Put a turkey baster-sized aluminum tray in your back yard. Put the tray out on the night prior to the aerial spray, and another on the night of the aerial spray. Seal each tray well. Each city should organize its own tests of the chemicals, including tests for biological agents, contaminants, radioactive substances, and a microscope analysis to see how big the microcapsules are, and to see if the microcapsules contain miniature microcapsules. Analysis ideally should also include a detailed chemical profile of the substance sprayed, since the government won’t tell us.

Finally, the way I see it, it is a crime to poison children and our fellow people who live in California. Just because the people who are polluting and poisoning the air with chemicals work for the government, should not make them immune to criminal liability and prosecution. Unfortunately, no city officials, yet, have the decency and standards to attack this matter as it is, a crime. Crimes require criminal investigations, and criminal charges.

People can be alarmed, and if cities take equitable action, we do not need to be afraid. For example, we pay taxes so we can have a fire and police department to protect ourselves from crime. Why not use the police force to protect residents from government sponsored crimes?

The media creates a false fear about some hypothetical terrorist releasing chemical weapons in the United States. Meanwhile, the US government is doing something very similar, releasing potentially deadly chemicals on its population, for no good reason.

This is a cover-up.

The LBAM infestation is a monumental hoax (Yes there are LBAMs, the hoax is that the only solution is to spray chemicals on cities).

I pray for grace for everyone, so that people in the proposed spray zones remain safe from harm, and that those who are inspired to take action to stop this be inspired to act effectively, with humility, strength and compassion.

In Santa Cruz and Monterey, local residents have started the California Alliance to Stop the Spray. (CASS) (http://cassonline.org/) This alliance is developing evidence and documentation to stop the aerial spraying for the Light Brown Apple Moth. Just because this alliance is formed, does not mean the moth spray will be stopped. Each area needs to form their own groups, and work together to defeat the real pest, the state and federal governments who are performing illegal operations.

this story is a little old, but i find it interesting. even entertaining, at least it birthed some random musing…

quite a few (female) critters out there can reproduce without a male. you call it  parthenogenesis

insects, lizards, snakes….some species can do it. but all the offspring are male. that’s the only option when you have only a heavenly father and no earthly one.

the komodo dragon, Flora, had such a virgin birth last year around that delightfully spite-infested holiday known to the western world as christmas.

In parthenogenesis, an unfertilized egg develops into an embryo using its two sets of maternal chromosomes.

The unusual process is most commonly known in smaller invertebrates, such as aphids and zooplankton. But it is occasionally recorded in much larger animals, including some reptiles and amphibians.

The main drawback to this mode of reproduction is that populations can become genetically very similar, making them more vulnerable to disease and less able to adapt to change, such as altered climate conditions or new predators.

But there may have been an important advantage to Komodo dragons having fatherless young, the study team says.

The reptiles are native to islands in Indonesia, where female castaways could have need to start new colonies on their own, the researchers say.

“If a female gets swept off her desert island to a new desert island where there are no other dragons, then she can reproduce parthenogenetically,” Gibson said.

Males Only

The offspring of such virgin births are all male, because of the genetics involved in self-fertilization in lizards, Gibson explained.

“When the offspring reach sexual maturity, the mother can reproduce with her own sons, and you’re back to a sexually reproducing population,” Gibson said.

Parthenogenesis has been found in a number of other unexpected animals in recent years, he added.

“It was recorded in a python a couple of years ago,” he said. “Turkeys can do it, and it’s also happened in fish.”

Previous suspected cases of virgin births in zoo animals include a white spotted bamboo shark at the Belle Isle Aquarium in Detroit.

anyhoo, what that made me think of is the people who claim certain higher ups and powers that be are actually reptilian aliens posing as humans (such as the queen of england, the bushes, hillary, etc etc etc etc). you know, the ones that eat babies.

well, these “people” also like to pretend to be “christian” and well, there’s a lot of suspiciousness in that religion anyway…..

really, i find the reptilian thing more believable. and more fun too!

There was a supposed “Nazi Rally” in my hometown of Omaha Nebraska over the weekend which to me smacked more of a military tactical exercise than anything else. The following is my description of the events accompanied by several photos.

On Saturday, September 1st, I was awakened by the familiar yet unrelenting sound of helicopter blades swirling overhead. This sound was not unfamiliar to me as the Omaha neighborhood in which I reside is anything but crime free, but it was certainly an odd time to be “fighting crime”.

Upon venturing out to grab some breakfast, I realized that every block I drove down was not only closed, but being monitored by a police cruiser and a single patrolman. Because I don’t watch the news as a general rule, upon one such intersection I shouted out to a middle age lady and her friend on
the corner and asked what was up.

“The Nazis are having some type of rally. I live on this block and can’t leave or else they won’t let me back in.”

After exchanging a few other words, my wife and I pulled off and proceeded to the next block and found the whole situation very odd, because we hadn’t heard anything about it ahead of time. Every block for the next seven blocks was being monitored in a similar fashion.

Finally I stopped and yelled to a cop on a motorcycle, “What’s going on here?”

He responded, “The Nazis are having a rally today until four this afternoon.” To which I responded, “These must be out of town Nazis because the Nebraska game is at 2:30 and we know who will win that battle.” For a moment, he dropped the facade of “Enforcer” and laughed at my joke before
his partner told us to move on.

Once home, I grabbed my camera and decided to venture out for myself and absorb the energy. I walked to the end of my block, on 31st and Dodge [photo right] , and realized that Dodge was closed in both directions from 30th all the way to 34th, which was odd because after 20+ years as a resident I have never seen Dodge closed for anything but a major traffic accident. So, I proceeded west on Dodge towards 34th to see what was going on.

On the way I stopped and spoke to a patrolman who was stationed at the next intersection. After being razzed by a fellow citizen about “Them stupid Nazis” and why they were allowed to do this on Omaha’s busiest street and main traffic artery, he told the citizen, “Well they applied for the permits and followed the necessary actions so there isn’t anything I can do. Call the Mayor’s office.”

After the citizen walked away, I exchanged pleasantries with the patrolman and said “So if me and my organization decided to hold some type of rally on public grounds all we have to do is fill out a permit request?”

“Yes.”

“And we get to decide the location or does the city dictate it? Can’t the city deny a request for a potential location?”

“Well, yes but all you need is the certification and if you have questions about that, you should contact the Mayor’s Office.”

Dodge Street in Omaha isn’t just a major traffic artery, but it is so old it is actually a Federal highway, the original highway on Omaha’s history. With this knowledge in mind and considering the fact that Federal highway equals Federal property, not city or state, I asked the patrolman, “Well since Dodge is actually a Federal highway, wouldn’t it have to go beyond just the Mayor’s office?”

To which he surprisingly replied, “This conversation is over. You need to proceed.” He got right in my face and gestured with his arm that I needed to continue walking west. I was genuinely surprised because until that moment it had been a pleasant exchange, which suddenly turned VERY confrontational.

The police presence in the area set a strange pall over the neighborhood. I learned along the way that the event was being billed as an “Anti Illegal Immigration Rally”, which lead to some weird interactions with passersby as people tried to guess who was in support and who was against the proceedings by race alone.

But it wasn’t only that. Every street I walked on I was harassed by cops about my destination in a neighborhood where this type of behavior never occurs. “Where are you going? Why? Do you live on this block?” etc. Why would I need to be asked these questions if it was just a Nazi Rally?

There was a lot of tension in the air, both literally and figuratively because there were three police helicopters on site that were occupying the air space from 40th and Dodge (and one block in both east and west directions) to 30th and Dodge covering at least 15 square city blocks continuously.

Once I actually got to where the proceedings were supposed to take place, I was alarmed by the number of policemen in full “Riot Gear,” complete with gas masks, ropes, helmets and batons. None of them were friendly. You got the vibe that if one minor infraction occurred that would be easily handled by one patrolman, it would suddenly be overblown into a situation that required eight.

After I walked to an area off the main drag I looked upon the situation and took it all in. I saw at least 100 officers in full riot gear, marching in formation and realized it was finally here; it was happening in MY city, not some far off, easily dismissed place like New York or California, but Omaha, Nebraska. Facts were being misconstrued to a readily accepting public, in order for the governing bodies of this country/state to put on a full-scale tactical exhibition under the guise of an “Anti Immigration Rally”. My neighborhood was being disjointed and rendered totally incapacitated in an hour or two of possession by the local authorities.

As I walked and talked to other solo picture taking citizens along the way, I learned that 13 different law enforcement agencies had combined to monitor to the days events, something that hit me as strange for an anti immigration rally fronted by a group calling themselves the “National Socialist
Movement.”

The “Rally” itself was probably the least interesting part of the day. Around 25 members of the “NSM” {National Socialist Movement] stood in front of the Mexican Consulate building (which is closed on Saturday’s) encaged by police barricades which restricted their movement to a 30 foot “pen” created by the barriers. Their pen was right in the middle of pens created for both the antagonists and the protagonists. The “Nazis” just took turns hurling insults in unison at the anti-rally supporters and that was about the extent of the rally.

Another interesting thing I noticed was a policeman standing in a “safe area” between the Nazi’s and the Pro-Nazi supporters with a television news style camera on his shoulder video taping the proceedings. He wasn’t recording the anti rally demonstrators at all, just the Nazi’s and his own police troops as they moved into different formations like an army regiment. Was he doing this to avoid a liability lawsuit should it get out of hand? Or was he doing it like an NFL team studies game film before a game, reviewing the minutest details in preparation for a “live” game? That’s what this whole thing struck me as; a type of intra squad “scrimmage” between all these different agencies to see how they would work together, like a test run.

What I couldn’t get over or understand for a supposed “rally” was the overall tactical approach that law enforcement had assumed. There were cops everywhere, restricting both the flow of auto traffic and pedestrian traffic for blocks around the consulate, patting every one down and forcefully not allowing citizens to walk down normally public walkways. They were on horses, with dogs, cattle prods and batons.

There were also several vehicles with government license plates and tinted windows that encircled the whole 15+ block radius of the event for the duration. On two occasions I was approached by these vehicles where cops/patrolmen in plain clothes jumped out and told me to stop walking so they could search and pat me down.

Once I got home, I did some research about the “Rally” and learned an interesting detail. The man who organized the event in Omaha, 39-year-old David Gletty of Orlando, is the same man who organized a similar event through the Parramore neighborhood of Orlando, and is actually a paid FBI informant and suddenly I began to wonder about the merit of the “Rally”. This new understanding shed light on the why the air was so thick with tension and explained the aggressive nature of the police force on hand which was noted by multiple bystanders I encountered along the way. It wasn’t just a normal police procedure, it was something different. After having lived in large American cities previously and attending similar rally events (by choice or by circumstance), I never once encountered one so invasive and intimidating.

Even on the local news that night they questioned the necessity of the seemingly limitless amount of patrolmen and resources used to quell the “rally”, in addition to the uproar about the several thousand tax dollars that were wasted on monitoring about 25 Nazi’s for absolutely no reason.

The thing that struck me the most about this experience was how abruptly the plan was laid out and executed. Watching the positions the “Storm Troopers” took and the way they moved in formation looked much more like a training exercise than an attempt at maintaining order during a protest.

Another thing to consider while reading this is that Omaha is less than 20 miles from a huge military installation called the Strategic Air Command located in Bellevue, Nebraska. Built during the cold war the purpose of SAC is described as “Toward deterring aggression, the U. S. built a vast nuclear arsenal, most of it under the control of the Strategic Air Command,” as stated on its website. In fact after the events of 9/11 took place the first location President Bush was ferried to from Florida was SAC located in Bellevue, Nebraska. That shows you how important that SAC is and by default Omaha becomes somewhat important as well because it is easily the biggest city for about 300 miles in any direction.

Perhaps my assertions are incorrect and far fetched, which they will be undoubtedly labeled by for at least a few people reading this, but I think events like these are seeds being sown in a very subversive manner to bring the “Police State” to fruition in the most powerful nation on the planet before reaching across the seas and enveloping others. Just the sight of seeing 100 or so “Storm Troopers” overtaking your neighborhood at their discretion is being ingrained in your subconscious mind as something “normal” or “acceptable” so when it happens again, the public will remain docile and unquestioning but on a scale far grander than individual perception alone.

Occurrences like this are on the rise all over this country but don’t get the publicity that is necessary for the public to become informed. I wanted to do my part for the “underground” and share the situations I encountered for the benefit of anyone reading this. All the good intentions in the world
are not enough to stop the movement that is afoot. If there is any hope that our society will not be relegated to a third world communist police state in the next 15-20 years it will take individual action and a conscious focus of will to preserve even a shred of life as we now know it.

i mean, they take barely composted (if at all) cow crap, chicken crap, etc, and even other really nasty & harmful bio-wastes and put it on crops, so why not properly compost your own waste, and not just the kitchen scraps?

if you compost it properly and for long enough, it won’t smell and it won’t be nasty. that’s one way you know it’s ready. same goes for cow shit. and when the farms use it, it makes the air reek for miles. they didn’t compost that! and i’m supposed to eat the food grown in it?

and why do we insist on polluting our limited supply of drinking water? you do know that the “recycled” water from your toilet ends up coming out of your kitchen sink, right?

anyhoo….a few years back, i heard talk of really tiny RFID tags that were being placed in most everything, woven into fabrics, etc….especially as regards that monster virus WAL-MART.

well, so now it’s in the news.

RFID ‘Powder’ – World’s Smallest RFID Tag

The world’s smallest and thinnest RFID tags were introduced yesterday by Hitachi. Tiny miracles of miniaturization, these RFID chips (Radio Frequency IDentification chips) measure just 0.05 x 0.05 millimeters.

The previous record-holder, the Hitachi mu-chip, is just 0.4 x 0.4 millimeters. Take a look at the size of the mu-chip RFID tag on a human fingertip.

(Powder RFID chips next to a human hair) The new RFID chips have a 128-bit ROM for storing a unique 38 digit number, like their predecessor. Hitachi used semiconductor miniaturization technology and electron beams to write data on the chip substrates to achieve the new, smaller size.

Hitachi’s mu-chips are already in production; they were used to prevent ticket forgery at last year’s Aichi international technology exposition. RFID ‘powder,’ on the other hand, is so much smaller that it can easily be incorporated into thin paper, like that used in paper currency and gift certificates.

Science fiction fans will have a field day with this new technology. In his 1998 novel Distraction, Bruce Sterling referred to bugged money:

They always played poker with European cash. There was American cash around, flimsy plastic stuff, but most people wouldn’t take American cash anymore. It was hard to take American cash seriously when it was no longer convertible outside U.S. borders. Besides, all the bigger bills were bugged. (Read more about bugged money)

These tiny RFID tags could be worked into any product; combined with RFID readers built into doorways, theft of consumer goods would be practically impossible. It’s not clear from the references provided, but even if this chip needs an external antenna, the attached antenna would be a tiny ribbon of wire more narrow than a human hair and only a fraction of an inch long.

These devices could also be used to identify and track people. For example, suppose you participated in some sort of protest or other organized activity. If police agencies sprinkled these tags around, every individual could be tracked and later identified at leisure, with powerful enough tag scanners.

To put it in the context of popular culture, see the picture below, which was taken from the 1996 movie Mission Impossible. One of the IMF operatives places a tracking tag on the shoulder of a computer programmer. Pretty clunky-looking tag…

RFID tags are in pretty much everything you buy nowadays. they collect a lot of data which can be extracted when in range of a RFID reader. basically, the object is scanned throughout the delivery process to a store, inside a store, upon leaving the store, after you take it home, wherever you happen to take it. as long as you have a reading device, you (or anyone else) can access this info and the other data stored in the tag. it’s a tracking & monitoring device of sorts. (similar to how they can track every mile you drive in your car and where you are spending those miles to a very exact degree. i believe the chips/tags for this started to be in every vehicle in the early 1990s, but i could be misinformed. however, the information is stored indefinitely………your life private? ha!)

two simple ways you can disable an RFID tag are by cutting off their antennas or by frying them in a microwave for a bit (that is, if you want to risk those microwaves….they give me a massive headache). but what to do when they’re in your clothes or anything else sensitive to scissors & radiation boxes?

why, make an RFID zapper using a disposable camera! (the plans here do not include all RFID frequencies as of yet)

somebody is apparently in the process of developing & manufacturing a commercial version too.

one subject i research fairly often is intentional communities–more or less. that’s the best generalized term at least.

of course i’m a bit of a snob when it comes to these type of places, because most of the time the people are quite ungrounded/flighty/disillusioned, and eventually everybody’s shit that they keep buried or ignore or deny (because that would be thinking negatively!) piles up so high that the whole community turns to shit too. and membership dwindles away to almost nothing. which isn’t quite the point of an intentional community either. the real problem with these places, funny enough, is the people. too many of them think they are capable and ready to embark on living in close proximity with other people, sharing home, land, & livelihood, even helping raise other people’s kids. it’s not the same thing as living in an apartment building. it requires a lot of work. and a lot of humility. and most people just aren’t cut out for it. but if you can learn to deal with your shit and put up with others’, then you’ve got a start.

FALCON BLANCO is a non-profit organization located on an island off of Spain, known as Ibiza. i’ve read over some of the documents they have posted on their website, and i think for the most part they seem to be willing to deal with their shit and yours (to certain degrees). at first glance, i remember feeling they were just another new-agey group. though some members are involved in pursuits that could be categorized as “new age,” i no longer believe this to be the group’s focus. reading the multiple discussions they have posted, my fears of the group being nothing but new-ager zombies were (for the most part) allayed.

now, you don’t need $$$ to stay with them (they try as much to avoid it–although i believe one of the guys that started it is rather wealthy and it is his property the group lives on). they do have some simple rules to follow, or rather, the lifestyle at Falcon Blanco does not include a few things…….really they are rather open. but it would be an interesting experience. definitely worth checking out if you have ever thought seriously about joining or even starting an intentional community.

(remember–i haven’t been to see the Falcon Blanco group personally. this is just the opinion i’ve formed from reading their site.)

What is FalconBlanco?

People ask for a description, they want to know very concrete what FalconBlanco is and what is going on here in its essence. This is hardly possible, because it depends too much on the subjective view of the one who receives the information. FalconBlanco is a ‘process’ which can be experienced. There is a kind of frame in which things are happening. What happens depend on the state of being of each individual. Can one describe what ‘life’ is? Even a precise description can’t be very concrete and will leave space for individual interpretation, there seems to be no way to avoid misunderstanding and so expectations will be formed which will not be confirmed by one’s personal reality…
What we are living at FalconBlanco does not fit into known concepts, unless antique wisdom are remembered, where it was said: “Know yourself…”
Not even existing forms, like ‘Intentional Communities’ come near to a possible general description. So if you might ask: “Is FalconBlanco an ‘Intentional Community?” Then I might answer: No, it is not! Because we are not trying to live a concept although our ‘coming together’ is part of the way we are living. When I say ‘No’ to this question, then because many years of experience have shown that people coming to live here have many problems when their expectations are not meeting with reality and reality is mostly different from dreams and concepts. So to avoid disappointment, it is better not to hold on images but to relate what is there. Anyway, we are not trying to live concepts, we are relating consciously in a responsible and creative way to daily circumstances, trusting that whatever appears, is the most effective happening to further our personal growth, what includes our conscious decisions.
People sometimes ask: “What is your philosophy?” We are NOT bound to any philosophy or believe system. What is the goal of FalconBlanco? To live individually one’s essential existence, using daily circumstances as stepping stones towards self knowledge, allowing and opening up to fields which transform one’s personality, (- finally as a self expression of love). Without any manipulation but with the trust that there is an unfolding growing process, which guides us in a natural, none violent and none manipulative way towards what could be called Health. Trusting that on our path we will receive the light we need, coming out of one’s heart individually and from the Sun for all…
Writing and talking is a way to express oneself. One can give a description of one’s position and the way one sees situations and receives other peoples expressions. If this opens an interchange and a communication, then this can be a way to help each other to clear things up.

What’s the idea of people coming together?
There might come together up to 20 people: Meditate, doing body exercises, talk, work, share, learn and enjoy their lives, relating to simple daily circumstances finding a new way to deal with themselves and their surrounding, alone and in togetherness helping and healing each other. Finding individually their way to express themselves – ‘coming together’ by living together in a responsible way, responding to each other and to daily circumstances.
People who come to live and work at FalconBlanco for a certain time, this might be for six weeks as a minimum, – or longer, are participating similar like in a ‘meditation/healing/working’ retreat. There is no money involved. There is a loose structure for the living together. There are certain times for meditation and other healing exercises and the daily work to maintain the place, which must be completed, as there are no paid workers. Out of our specific lifestyle there are coming certain rules, which will not be felt as such if your way of life is similar as ours…
There is guidance available for various healing exercises. We are working together, finding out about alternative ways to do things and to deal with our environment. For example: From vegetables and fruits and the manure of our horse we are making compost, which we use on our land or to exchange it. If there are enough people, we are growing vegetables and we are cleaning the forest to prevent fire danger, all this pretty hard work. But there is also work in the kitchen and with animals and plants.
Living together in FalconBlanco, there is no ‘owner’, who can ‘own’ land anyway? Owner is the one who feels responsible and takes care. We are not only trying to be friendly with people but also with plants, animals and the environment as a whole. - There for people must be willing and able to set their own needs for certain moments aside. That the living together of people coming from all over the world, different cultures, etc. can function it is necessary that every body takes responsibility and also some initiative. This can happen when there is motivation and engagement, what of course can’t be there from the moment of arrival, even though one can expect to be with ‘friends’. It’s part of the growing process, individually and as a group.
That’s the idea, reality shows that there are few people capable to live this and so we are only a few people and there is far too much work. People coming to FalconBlanco are bringing too much expectations with them and are not ready and willing to drop these to be able to receive something new which goes beyond their personal horizon. People want to be confirmed in their self image, in the way they perceive the world, etc. They are maybe ready to adapt new concepts in exchange for their old concepts, but they are not willing to enter into an open space without concepts. So this creates disappointment and defense, which doesn’t do any good… What makes that we need to select people very carefully, to see if they are ready and not just pretending…

What you can do to become a long or short time member?
We welcome people who are seriously interested to heal themselves and who also feel the urge to help and support others. People who come to participate should be responsible for themselves and have enough motivation and initiative to step out of their old world view, habits and personal structure; with other words: Who are ready and willing to undergo such difficult process… Inform yourself about FalconBlanco by reading every thing you can find on our Web sites. Make your comments, ask questions. After reading the “FAQ”, don’t hesitate to ask more questions which might help to clear up things.

We ask you not to show up at FalconBlanco without our confirmation. We would like to be more spontaneous, but our experiences during many years have told us not to accept people without clearing up the basic conditions. NO drugs, NO alcohol, NO tobacco, NO money making! This is a question of your personal ‘lifestyle’ and there should not be a conflict. If you want to live at FalconBlanco, then it must be clear that these four NOS must be completed . (Read about “Rules”) Apart of this it shouldn’t be necessary to discuss about it: What is needed is a clear YES to life with the intention to go beyond one’s limitations and that includes one’s own personal boundaries, what also means one’s excessive urge for self confirmation!

i assume stanley milgram’s experiments on obedience to authority (& those of others) are known, but if not, wikipedia has some articles (try here & here) to start you off.

what no longer amazes me is how so many people heedlessly obey a perceived “higher authority.” yes perhaps nothing constructive would ever get done if we didn’t, but personally i see this subconcious kowtowing as mostly causing destruction anyway. think of the military. wouldn’t it be great if every one of us lackeys just refused to go off & kill people we’d never met? like that will ever happen. but it’s a thought.

in 1961 robert j. lifton described the brainwashing model of the chinese in the 1950s as follows:

• milieu control (controlled relations with the outer world)
• mystic manipulation (planned spontaneity–events are orchestrated or attributed to group’s power or omniscience)
• confession (confess past and present sins)
• self-sanctification through purity (pushing the individual towards a not-attainable perfection)
• aura of sacred science (beliefs of the group are sacrosanct and perfect)
• loaded language (new meanings to words, encouraging black-white thinking)
• doctrine over person (the group is more important than the individual)
• dispensed existence (insiders are saved, outsiders are doomed)

margaret singer noted these conditions present in mind control:

• controlling a person’s time and environment, leaving no time for thought
• creating a sense of powerlessness, fear and dependency
• manipulating rewards and punishments to suppress former social behaviour
• manipulating rewards and punishments to elicit the desired behaviour
• creating a closed system of logic which makes dissenters feel as if something was wrong with them
• keeping recruits unaware about any agenda to control or change them

and in 2004, anthony stahelski described five phases of social pyschological conditioning:

1. Depluralization: stripping away all other group member identities
2. Self-deindividuation: stripping away each member’s personal identity
3. Other-deindividuation: stripping away the personal identities of enemies
4. Dehumanization: identifying enemies as subhuman or nonhuman
5. Demonization: identifying enemies as evil

now, of course these principles are applied mostly to cults* & terrorists groups & Hitler’s regime. but i can see a lot of these traits blatently at work in our everyday lives (not to mention subliminals…)–in families, in social groups, in vocations, in government, in the military, and in society as a whole (local, national, and global). in essence, life itself is a form of mind control.

so the question is, which form of mind control is the least detrimental to your overall well-being? which allows you the most individual freedom? which allows you full & free access to all other manners of mind control out there? which allows you to choose your own form of mind control? and which doesn’t force its own mind control on others?
are we (in general) that frightened of refusing? of saying no? of acting of our own free will, especially when it goes against the familial/social/political/religious grain? i think we should try to act just so as often as possible. we don’t need permission to live our lives, despite opinions (conscious & not) to the contrary.

this is very interesting. i have a friend that lives in chicago. she used to work for a large communications company while she was going to law school. she is very level-headed and not prone to such ramblings as mine. however…the company she worked for was bought by a bigger one, and subsequently all the top management personnel were replaced. oddly enough, all the replacements were scientologists! (they were open about this…) in fact, they had these little meetings that the rest of the staff could attend if they wanted to–not at all mandatory, they said. these meetings were essentially for the indoctrination & recruitment of the workers into the scientology cult (aye!). when my friend realized this, and refused to go, they fired her (remember how these meetings weren’t mandatory?) she, of course, knowing the law, said that they could not fire her for that reason. the response was that her life, should she seek legal retribution, would be made miserable….in effect, they would make sure she could never hold a job, and threatened harm to her & her family.

now that the scientologists will soon be after me, i just want to mention how this kind of insanity is not limited to power-hungry religious hacks that think they are aliens (and many of our celebrities enjoy this kind of thought). no, no. it’s everywhere. maybe they don’t all believe they’re from another planet, but hey. the end results are the same.

see are from their site. another one of those things i've known & forgotten
about until now. 

found out about them in MAKE magazine (vol 5), which by the way is

though i do not recommend all of william s. burroughs writings, i do suggest you peruse “the electronic revolution”……something i’ve pondered over myself a few times.

getting beyond his obsession with orgasm, masturbation, & sex in general, he describes a quite interesting experiment. basically using the cut-up technique with video/audio/photos to affect other people’s moods & actions. a form of brainwashing perhaps? covert warfare of a sorts? or just plain revenge? maybe some fun too. if his experiments went as he said they did…..well, don’t you wonder what technology is capable of all these decades later? we are affected by every wave that passes through us–electrical, micro, radio, etc–what do each of these & the combination of these waveforms do to our mind-computer & body-machine? hmmmmmmmm? it’s certainly not nothing. just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not there. you do turn on your radio & hear music. you do talk on your cell phone. (by the way, don’t live near a cell phone tower!)

He had discovered that playback on location can produce definite effects. Playing back recordings of an accident can produce another accident. In 1966 I was staying at the Rushmore Hotel, 11 Trebovir Road, Earl’s Court, and we carried out a number of these operations: street recordings, cut in of other material, playback in the streets …(I recall I had cut in fire engines and while playing this tape back in the street fire engines passed.) These experiments were summarized in THE INVISIBLE GENERATION … ( I wonder if anybody but CIA agents read this article or thought of putting these techniques into actual operation) Anybody who carries out similar experiments over a period of time will turn up more ‘coincidences’ than the law of averages allows. The tech can be extended by taking still or moving pictures during playback. I have frequently observed this operation: make recordings and take pictures of some location you wish to discomode or destroy, now play recordings back and take more pictures, will result in accidents, fires, removals. especially the latter The target moves. We carried out this operation with the Scientology Center at 37 Fitzroy Street. Some months later they moved to 68 Tottenham Court Road, where a similar operation was carried out…

If it came to that I would explain to the policeman that I was taking street recordings and making a documentary of Soho. This was after all London’s First Expresso Bar was it not? I was doing them a favor. They couldn’t say what both of us knew without being ridiculous…

‘He’s not making any documentary. He’s trying to blow up the coffee machine, start a fire in the kitchen, start fights in here, get us a citation from the Board of Health.’

Yes I had them and they knew it. I looked in at the old Prop and smiled as if he would like what I was doing. Playback would come later with more pictures. I took my time and strolled over to the Brewer Street Market where I recorded a three card Monte Game. Now you see it now you don’t.

Playback was carried out a number of times with more pictures. Their business fell off. They kept shorter and shorter hours. October 30, 1972 The Moka Bar closed. The location was taken over by The Queens Snack Bar.

Now to apply the 3 tape recorder analogy to this simple operation. Tape recorder 1 is the Moka Bar itself it is pristine condition. Tape recorder 2 is MY RECORDINGS of the Moka Bar vicinity. These recordings are ACCESS. Tape recorder 2 in the Garden of Eden was Eve made from Adam. So a recording made from the Moka Bar is a piece of the Moka Bar. The recording once made, this piece becomes autonomous and out of their control. Tape recorder 3 is PLAYBACK. Adam experiences shame when his DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOR IS PLAYED BACK TO HIM BY tape recorder 3 which is God. By playing back my recordings to the Moka Bar when I want and with any changes I wish to make in the recordings, I become God for this local. I effect them. They cannot effect me. And what part do photos take in this operation? Recall what I said earlier about written and spoken word. THE WRITTEN WORD IS AN IMAGE IS A PICTURE . The spoken word could be defined as any verbal units that correspond to these pictures and could be in fact be extended to ANY SOUND UNITS THAT CORRESPOND to to the pictures …Recordings and pictures are tape recorder 2 which is access. Tape recorder 3 is playback and ‘reality’. For example suppose your bathroom and bed room are bugged and rigged with hidden infra red cameras. These pictures and recordings give access. You may not experience shame during defecation and intercourse but you may well experience shame when these recordings are played back to a disapproving audience.

Now let us consider the arena of politics and the applications of bugging in this area. Of course any number of recordings are immediately available since politicians make speeches on TV. However, these recordings do not give access. The man who is making a speech is not really there. Consequently more intimate or at least private recordings are needed which is why the Watergate conspirators had to resort to burglary. A presidential candidate is not a sitting duck like a Moka Bar. He can make any number of recordings of his opponents. So the game is complex and competitive with recordings made by both sides. This leads to more sophisticated techniques the details of which have yet to come out. The basic operation of recording pictures, more pictures and playback can be carried out by anyone with a recorder and a camera. Any number can play. Millions of people could nullify the control system which those who are behind Watergate and Nixon are attempting to impose. Like all control systems it depends on maintaining a monopoly position. If anybody can be tape recorder 3 then tape recorder 3 loses power. God must be THE GOD.”

Strange Weather is a long-term project that is currently recruiting users interested in making sense of life. It consists of two components: Firstly, a database that accumulates personal indicators entered by its users (eg. index of well-being, body temperature, alcohol consumption) along with external indicators harvested from the internet (eg. weather in various cities, stock trading indexes, political approval rates, river heights). Secondly, a number of visualisation tools that enable users to mine this collaborative data warehouse, revealing patterns and underlying relationships in the seemingly obscure and unrelated data.

“If I drink 2 coffees a day, get 8 hours sleep and my bank balance is above $500 then my average heart rate at moment of orgasm goes up to 140 bpm.”

Chaos theory suggests that the causal relationships in natural systems are complex, unpredictable and interrelated. The “butterfly effect”, an often cited example, states that a butterfly’s wing flapping in one part of the world might cause a storm elsewhere. Strange Weather enables the user to track the consequences of their small actions on global events.

This project grew out of my ongoing interest in enlightenment science and a number of scientists of that period. Cesare Lombroso, for example, took obvious delight in classification and structure, weaving and conflating the disparate data he accumulated into complex nets of correlation in order to prove his theories of deviancy. Much of my work has investigated the idea of science as a belief system. While historically western science has prided itself on its objective pursuit of “truth”, scientific research is obviously influenced by the world-view of its practitioners and the cultural values of their period.

Strange Weather is a visible manifestation of the desire to make understandable, that which normally falls outside of the scale of our comprehension. Our attempts to understand the world and ourselves seem to be both admirable and absurd. Colliding the personal with the global, Strange Weather is a diagnostic tool that both elucidates and confounds.
